The City

my animation is almost finished. i just have to do some quick editing and add in the music. i cant believe how long it took me to finish it! it was my first time using Flash though so thats probably why...that and i was pretty picky about how i wanted my clip to play out.
anyway, ive been watching some vito acconci videos and other creepy video projects. theyre so uncomfortable to watch yet i cant stop them until ive seen the entire thing.

Jeanne-Claude dies at 74

"Jeanne-Claude, who collaborated with her husband, Christo, on dozens of environmental arts projects, notably the wrapping of the Pont Neuf in Paris and the Reichstag in Berlin and the installation of 7,503 vinyl gates with saffron-colored nylon panels in Central Park, died Wednesday in Manhattan, where she lived. She was 74." - nytimes

installation art is awesome.

Animation

so one of my favorite animator/directors is hayao miyazaki. when i was little my mom would buy all of his movies in japan and we would watch them. unlike the infamous art form of ANIME, miyazakis work is very authentic and has developed his own style of animation that is distinguishable. not only does he create beautiful films, the plot of his stories are so strong, emotional and really represent and shine a positive light on japanese culture.

some of my favorites:

- trailer for grave of the fireflies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbEyjUsWKZA
(i always cry watching the movie or even the trailer. the story is about a big brother and little sister trying to survive during the end of WWII. it takes place in the city where im from. roger ebert considers it to be one of the most powerful anti-war movies ever made. animation historian ernest rister compares the film to steven spielberg's schindler's list and says, "it is the most profoundly human animated film I've ever seen."
- trailer for spirited away:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIaBn9Emmlw
- trailer for princess mononoke: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCiD8KLXPEk

excited to get into flash next week!

Website Finished!

http://mypage.iu.edu/~mcmadrig/project4/

check it out! after finishing this project i think i want to make another website to display my artwork. i really want to start moving into photography, so that i can incorporate my drawings with photo images. now that i have CS4 available to me at IU i feel like i  have an entire new medium to explore. i also recently deleted my facebook so this would be a nice way to show people what im up to in terms of art work. right now im working on putting a digital portfolio together for my interior design class. here are some of my sketches from that class...

for the past 2 weeks ive been wondering what i really want to major in, i love all my classes so thats making it especially difficult. i just want to go to school forever and major in everything! haha...

have a good weekend!!

GIRLTALK.

i went to the VS PINK concert on thursday night with some friends. girltalk was really enjoyable, i like what music and concerts are coming to. it didnt really matter where you were in the audience because it wasnt like you could hear worse/better depending on your location. DJ concerts are great because theyre just like one big dance party and no one really cares whats going on stage. they had a lot of interesting video media playing on the big screen as well, a lot of 80s underwear commercials. it would be neat to be a concert artists and design sets, lighting, and the images on screen!

ENJOY THE FALL WEATHER!
